Legal disclosures & donor policies.

Equis Amare™ College Preparatory Academy (EACPA) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation incorporated in the State of California. Federal Tax ID (EIN): 39-2918392. All charitable contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed under U.S. federal and applicable state law. No goods or services were provided to the donor in exchange for this contribution unless explicitly disclosed in writing.

Donor records are maintained in strict confidence and will not be sold, traded, or shared with any third party. Donor capital is held exclusively within EACPA and is subject to a capital firewall provision contained in every donor agreement.

Every student, faculty member, donor, and visitor at Equis Amare™ College Preparatory Academy is bound by a common standard. The animals do not have a vote in how we treat them. The community we are building does.

Trust. We do our own work. Tests are our own. Papers are our own. Capstone projects are our own. When we use a source, we name it. When we use another voice, we cite it. The signature on the work is the same as the signature on the page.

Stewardship of the herd. Horses are not equipment. We feed them before we feed ourselves. We cool them out before we go home. We log injuries the day they happen, not the day they get noticed. If a horse is not right, we say so out loud.

Care for each other. The barn is a working space. We watch one another's back at the wash rack, in the cross-ties, and on the trail. We do not haze. We do not exclude. We hold each other accountable in private before we go public.

Honesty with the faculty. If we are struggling academically, we say so. If a lesson is not landing, we say so. If a teacher is wrong, we say so respectfully, in office hours, with our notes in hand. Silence is not a sign of agreement.

Care for the land. The 37.9 acres at Penn Valley were land before we arrived. Pasture rotation, water quality, fence repair, and weed control are part of the curriculum, not someone else's job.

Without exception. EACPA admits students of any race, color, national origin, ethnic origin, sex, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. EACPA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnic origin, sex, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic or other school-administered programs.

Consequences. A violation is taken up first by the student or community member involved, then by the faculty advisor, then by the dean if needed, then by the board. Disciplinary outcomes range from a private conversation to dismissal. Severity tracks intent and pattern, not class year.

The honor code is read aloud on opening day. It is signed by every student, family, faculty member, and full-time staff member. A copy is posted at the barn entrance, in every classroom, and in the donor wall lobby. It is updated only with the consent of the standing student body.

By submitting a donation to EACPA through any channel, including the web form, Square payment, Givebutter, wire transfer, mailed check, stock transfer, or donor-advised fund, you agree to the following. These terms are in addition to the broader policies stated above.

Tax status. EACPA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation incorporated in California (EIN 39-2918392). Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed under U.S. federal and applicable state law. A written acknowledgement is emailed within 24 hours of receipt and serves as your record for IRS purposes. EACPA does not provide tax advice; consult your accountant for treatment specific to your situation.

Contributions held exclusively by EACPA. EACPA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent permitted by law. All charitable contributions to EACPA are held exclusively within EACPA's accounts and governed solely by the EACPA Board of Directors. No portion of any gift to EACPA may be transferred to, loaned to, or used for the benefit of any other entity. This provision is irrevocable.

No goods or services in exchange. Unless explicitly noted in writing at the time of the gift, no goods or services have been provided to the donor in exchange for the contribution. Naming opportunities, donor wall placement, and Founding 30 acknowledgement are recognition of generosity and carry no fair-market value.

Capital firewall. Every donor agreement includes a written capital firewall provision. Funds restricted by donor intent cannot be reallocated, transferred, lent, or pledged to the affiliated for-profit entity (Equis Amare™, Inc.). This provision is enforceable as a condition of the gift and survives the dissolution of either entity.

Designation. If you direct your gift to a particular use such as campus capital, scholarships, wellness curriculum, the Founding 30 Circle, or a named opportunity, EACPA will apply your gift accordingly. In the rare event that a designation can no longer be honored as originally written, EACPA will contact the donor in writing to discuss redirection. Restricted funds are never released without donor consent.

Recurring gifts. Monthly and annual recurring donations continue until canceled. To pause, modify, or cancel a recurring gift, email donate@eacpa.academy at least three business days before the next charge date. Changes confirmed in writing.

Refunds. Donations are non-refundable except in the case of a charging error, duplicate transaction, or fraudulent use of a payment instrument. Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of the original charge to donate@eacpa.academy. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 7 business days.

Anonymity & recognition. Unless you indicate otherwise on the donation form, EACPA may list your name (or your organization or family name) on the public donor wall, in the annual report, and in gala materials. To remain anonymous, check the box on the donation form or write to donate@eacpa.academy. Anonymity is honored permanently and across all materials.

Payment processing. Card payments on the EACPA website are processed by Square (squareup.com). Square handles tokenization and PCI compliance; EACPA does not store full card details on its servers. By submitting a card payment, you also agree to Square's payment terms, available at squareup.com/legal/general/payments-terms.

Stewardship. Donors at the Founding 30 level and above receive a personal stewardship report annually, written by Founder Laura Bruner. The report covers how funds were applied, what the founding cohort accomplished, and where the school is going next.

Counsel. Donor agreements above $50,000 and naming opportunities are reviewed by EACPA's nonprofit counsel (Adler & Colvin) before signing. Education-law counsel (AALRR). Annual audit (Aldrich CPAs & Advisors).

Imagery. Some photographs and illustrations on this website have been digitally enhanced, retouched, or composited using AI-assisted tools for illustrative purposes. Such imagery is intended to convey the spirit of the program and may not depict actual people, students, staff, facilities, or events.

EACPA collects only the information you provide directly through the contact form, donation flow, admissions inquiries, or written correspondence. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Donation processing is handled by Square; card data is tokenized and never stored on EACPA servers. Email correspondence is read by the founder and a small administrative team; replies typically arrive within one business day.

To request a copy of, correct, or delete your records, write to info@eacpa.academy. Tax receipts, gala invitations, and donor agreements are retained for the period required by federal and California state law.
